Wild Cat Fix and Release program. If you want someone to come in and trap the wild kitties and relocate them, we cannot help. We cannot loan out traps so that you can take them in to be put to sleep. However, what we can do if you are willing is to spay/neuter the cats free of charge. There will be a small amount of kitties ear removed under surgery so that they can be identified as having been surgically altered. You will then be required to provide food twice a day, ½ cup of kibble each feeding and water 24/7 for as long as these kitties live. Outside kitties normally do not have long lives. The program works like this. Call Shelton Vet, 426 2616, and get an appointment for one of the feral cats living near your home. Call the shelter, 360 584 0594 or 360 426 2455, two days before the surgery and come to the shelter to check out the free humane trap. This trap costs us 130 dollars so you will be required to provide good identification and two phone numbers. Return trap when kitty is done, and make the next appointment with the vet. It does not matter which kitty is trapped. Keep trapping until every one of the wild group is altered. No charge for the wild cat surgeries, no shots will be done during that time as they bill us directly. If we get a grant we can have the vet give one shot at the time of surgery, but so far that has not happened.
