Barnes
and his brother
Noble
(Nobie to his friends) are two of the most extremely affectionate and social
cats we have rescued. We joke that Nobie could have his very own successful
business called “Nobie Charm and Cuddle School”. He is a professional
cuddler, there is no doubt about it! Barnes also enjoys lap naps and
massages, just for shorter periods than his brother.
The tiny
week old babies were brought to us as orphans that were experiencing some
health issues. Both boys were exposed as infants to a common cat virus
many cats become exposed to that can show up as runny nose, eyes, and sinus
irritation. They were placed for temporary care in one of our wonderful
foster homes, where they received day and night bottle feedings along with
hours and hours of snuggles and love. At five months of age they were
adopted to a local family. Several months later we discovered that these
precious boys were being neglected and abused. We quickly brought them back
into the loving arms of our shelter, where they have resided since.
Both Barnes
and Nobie have experienced a few flare-ups of upper respiratory illness
because of the stress in their early lives. The good news is that they are
doing well with treatment and love and we expect that they will continue to
do so.
Barnes
and
Nobie
have much to offer a family that is willing to give them the extra care and
attention they deserve and need.
These handsome boys are thriving and enjoying high quality all wet food and
an easy to prepare raw diet. Everyone who meets them talks about how shiny
and soft their fur is because of the great diet.
Should
they have outbreaks of symptoms in the future, veterinary care might be
needed for antibiotics. Two of our vets have said that they each believe
this pair of cats will thrive in a loving home environment and we agree.
Neither cat should receive any vaccines in the future, so will need an
indoor only home. Since vaccines are not recommended for these cats, they
cannot be boarded if their family travels.
Barnes
and
Nobie
are about 20
months old. They are not taking daily prescription medications. A couple
of supplements to keep their immune systems strong and excellent food
(they are doing great on a new raw diet, without dry food) will most
likely keep them healthy for many years.
Are you a
loving, happy and fun family that finds joy in supporting the health of
animals? If so, then this very special pair might be a perfect match for
you.
